Volunteer Work Day Guidelines

We generally work with volunteers on Mondays and Saturdays.

Walk-Ons and Groups

Much of our building is done by individual volunteers. We build most of the year. For information about work sites please call: (631) 537-1981 - Work Site Info

We can almost always accommodate individual walk-ons as long if you are willing to be flexible. If you desire to do specific tasks, contact us to see when they might be available.

Groups must schedule a work day in advance.

Important Volunteer Information

We begin @ 9 am and finish at about 1 pm. You must arrive "on time" so the day's work can be explained to all the volunteers. Latecomers will have to wait until the Supervisor is free to direct you to a task.

Please bring work gloves. Eye protection is recommended.

Wear appropriate clothing and footwear. We work rain or shine.

Leave power tools in car. Check with the Supervisor if you believe they may assist on the site.

Volunteers must be 14 or older. Volunteers under 18 must be must have a completed waiver form signed by a parent or guardian.

Volunteers constructing roofs must be at least 18 years old.

Bring your own refreshments and food.

If you are a skilled volunteer and you will accept a leadership role in some of the tasks that day ask the supervisor and you may be assigned to lead a small group of volunteers. As a Group leader (coordinator) we strongly suggest that you contact your volunteers and remind them about their commitment the week before the work day.
